My company is a Microsoft and Sprint reseller and developer partner - I'm working on an unrelated windows mobile white paper for MS ... I'll ask around and see if I can come up with anything from the inside. Though I wouldn't hold your breath, I anticipate only a series of weird looks when I ask about the FM radio. On a side note, I already checked in with HTC - just for giggles. I was given the usual courteous brush off they give developers. They insist everything go through the specific carrier, which is rather painful at times.

As for his Mobi adventure, I'll vouch for him. I give my old Sprint phones to cheap friends that go pay Mobi $20 to have them reprogrammed and activated on their network. It's not quite an exact science for Mobi, strange things often happen.
