Re: Tethering Fix Right Here!
Actually, I figured it out. Well...someone else figured it out. I read the post that said that one of the changes the tethering.cab file makes to the windows mobile registry is it makes it look for a "Sprint" connection. By default my connection name (and probably yours too) is 'Sprint PCS'. SO...I just simply clicked EDIT and deleted the PCS portion so that my connection was named "Sprint" ONLY.
FIRST, I tried connecting to the internet with my mobile IE browser it dialed and it still said Sprint PCS at the time but it still dialed with that connection. After successfully connecting I then went to 'Internet Sharing' to see if the CONNECT button was still 'Greyed Out' and BINGO! it was NO LONGER greyed out. It works. It said I was CONNECTED and there was NO MORE "ERROR 67 CODE" - Since Internet Sharing said I was connected I simply Right-Clicked on my wireless connection in the system tray (by the little clock in the bottom right of your windows computer/laptop screen) and DISABLED my wireless adapter and I AM SURFING! GETTING GREAT SPEEDS. I am a little out of the city so I am getting over 800 some KBPS but that's pretty darn good really, I'd say! That's on only 2 bars sometimes three. If I were closer to the city I would probably get 1.5 and bursts of 2mbps.
It's great.
OH...ONE MORE THING....I have a SPRINT HTC TOUCH (plain jane). It is NOT a Diamond or Pro. Just simply a Plain Sprint HTC Touch original and the tether.cab file works even when the backlight goes out; it does not stay on (probably deliberately) so that you can preserve battery power. It's AWESOME!!! Many THANKS and KUDOS to Mr. Shwartz!!!!
Just remember to RENAME your connection (under the connection tab in settings) to just SPRINT only instead of Sprint PCS.
Have a great time surfing!!
