Its hard, and those two are the only decent ones out of 10-12 attempts.
Like you said its difficult to see where to line up the second and third shots. I guess the easiest way is to pick a strong contrast item in the photo on the left hand side so its easier to see it in the right hand strip when its time to take the second/third photo. Obviously this isnt always possible though.
The other problem I have noticed is sometimes shots 2 and 3 have different levels of brightness. ie if shot 1 has more sun, shots 2 and 3 are much darker than the first. I guess this is a limit of quality of the camera itself.
