This is my experience as well. I didn't have to actually sign up and use the Telenav app, I just needed to install it. I suspect that the reason the Sprint version works so well is due to the fact Telenav comes pre installed on the device, where as on the Fuze it does not. If Telenav had not been pre installed on the Sprint Pro, I suspect they would be having the same issues we are.
