No, it will get darker. It adjusts to compensate for background light.

I find it annoying that my phone turns off during calls, so I disabled that. I use automated systems, like my voicemail so much that it started to get aggrevating. I am used to turning off my phone if I don't need to see the screen. Plus, it turns off after 30 seconds or whatever anyways.

On a sidenote, why doesn't the number pad pop up when I call voicemail? It always did this on my Touch, and it's highly annoying that I have to keep switching over...
