Lightbulb Optical Zoom.. Not Digital Zoom
I found this great piece of hardware that may do away with the poor Digital Zoom on the Diamond.. It is basically a camera lens for doing Optical Zoom on your Diamond for when you take pictures... Go here for a review.. Or you can go here for more info on the product...

Might only be for GSM model only...
