I have noticed the same thing...Pretty good battery life after a few weeks of use. I am happy.
I could not get through a day on my 6700 without the extended battery.
I have weather not changed the HTC weather update settings, I use bluetooth and I have wifi disabled most of the time.
Once I install weather panel and have it updating hourly I will see if it holds up.
