@PDAPhoneJunkie, I was afraid that *I'd* been the one to set you off, today with my "radio" post (I swear, honsetly, I read and read and READ about the issue before posting, swear ta god!).
I think sometimes, yes, you
do get n00bs who might be a bit inconsiderate (of course you can always ignore them). But oftentimes, you're dealing with a n00b who honestly tries, but who might not have hit on the right combo of search words to get a satisfactory answer.
I know how much you helped me when I was a REAL idiot-style n00b, and that's still hugely appreciated! (reference all the "thank you"s I clicked

)
@kcallis, hope I don't offend *you* now...

but in case you haven't tried it out yet, it's really
reeeeally easy to use the kitchen to flash a more stable ROM - and you're not technically "building" it, since the wizards here, at ppckitchen and at xda-dev (etc, etc) have done all the heavy lifting for us. It honestly could fix your prob in 10 minutes if you go to this link
here and install the latest kitchen. (well, okay, 10 minutes from the time BuildOS is installed & running...)
Heck, I flashed over 40 times with 20755, just playing around with it - it's really stable, and it'll fix your problem. Just open BuildOS and a la carte the items you want to add to your phone to customize it.
I know that means you'll have to reload all your files and reconfigure your email addys, etc. But you might consider the time expenditure there vs. the amount of time you're pulling hairs over the internet issue...
