I think it might still work. I had that problem with two of the adapters I broke the 4th pin on. The problem is that it didn't break all the way back, and some of the pin's material was still making a connection. So I used a clothespin to really break up the rest of the pin that was in the back and almost not visible. I was able to get both adapters to work that way, by the way.

For the record, immediately when you plug in the modified adapter (it doesn't matter if you have the camcorder cable in or not) you should see a screen pop up that asks you about PAL or NTSC. This alone should tell you whether you broke pin 4 well enough.
