I used a program called memmaid, but there are numerous free ware ones like it, to disable those same services at boot time. The mem maid step is not nescasary but I also you the app to clear my start menu history every boot as well just for asthetics.

After that I downloaded a program called TouchFlow Customizer and a couple new themes. the VZW is just horrible. With a new theme installed I diabled the internet, pictures, People Tab.

Doing so I boot with about 50% free or 50 megs or so of ram. If I disable touchflow alltogether this will net about 62 megs free. The machine is flying then.

There is also another tweak that I added to make the touchflow more sensitive and that alone makes it feel alot less laggy. I think some of the lag we see is from the settings of the interface. Try this cab and shut down the otpions I noted above and tell me what you think. I am very happy with mine.

I was pretty upset with mine after comparing it to my Vogue with a super fast custom ROM I created. That thing was stupuid fast. But after applying these tweaks and playing with another app called Advanced config I am very satisfied with this purchase (especially for the $70.00 I paid ;c)

EDIT: Here is where I found most of the links. I havent tried the manual reg edits yet, just the cabbed up stuff. Also remember this thing takes a while to boot. I got frustrated early on because I was trying to use the touchflow to early. Different "timing" than on my Vouge and Titan

First I have to ask how you avoided the customizations. I could not. Every time I performed a soft-reset at the "setting up your phone" message, it came back and did it again.

Second, I performed a hard reset this morning, and now the friggin' thing won't get on the Internent. The credentials weren't in the connection settings, so I plugged them in, and still nothing. It says it cannot connect due to an unknown error. I cannot WAIT for a ROM for this thing. I was looking at the Omnia online last night and was thinking about switching until I realized it's not VGA. I love this phone, but it needs work.

On a side note, before the hard reset, I had peformed the tweaks you suggested and they did work. The tweaks with Advanced Config, and the HTC Diamond Touchflo customizer are great.
