Well, thought I'd check in after having used the iPhone since last Friday (returned my 3rd Touch Pro). BTW, I'm the guy that posted the LONG comparison a few posts back
Man, I gotta say, as much as I loved the Touch Pro for its feature list, the iPhone is completely in a class by itself in terms of overall usability. I will provide more details if asked, but suffice it to say the iPhone is simply miles beyond any other mobile device I've ever seen, used or imagined. Now I get what all the hype is about - and I don't think that's possible until you've used one yourself for any real period of time (tinkering with store displays does NOT count).
Despite that long list I made earlier, I really only miss two things from the TP:
1. The Touch Pro's screen resolution. The iPhone's screen is significantly bigger, which is great, but the TP was razor sharp, which made tiny text much easier on the eyes - not to mention picture viewing, etc.
2. The camera. Man, the TP takes some killer pics - the best I've ever seen from a phone camera. The iPhone's camera simply sucks by comparison.
For almost every other missing feature of the iPhone (as it ships anyway), I found a free app within minutes, and they work perfectly.
Factor in the overall build quality and the consistency, speed and fluidity of the iPhone OS, the app store, the MUCH better call quality (still can't believe that) - and I'm sold. Surprisingly I don't even miss the hardware keyboard - there are landscape keyboards for the iPhone (but with no moving parts) and they work just fine.
Finally, I really like how the iPhone feels in hand. It's much thinner & lighter than the TP, yet it feels much more solid at the same time.
Both devices will get the job done, but for my money there's just no comparison. If I sound like a fanboy, so be it - I'm being as objective as possible. Just thought I'd provide my own conclusion after having given BOTH phones a fair shake - wanted to let you know which way I voted with my hard-earned dollers. Feel free to do the same with yours
All the best, my friends...
