I put the movie on the phone without using active sync or wmp (just used the phone as a hard drive). No luck. When I try to play it I get a message that I need to upgrade wmp to play protected content and then it takes me to a link for upgrading wmp on windows xp. The photo album player just shows a blank screen and does nothing.

Were you able to shrink a Blue ray movie to a size acceptable to play on these devices? Interesting, what app did you use for converison, and how many hours did it take you to accomplish this task?
