Re: Anyone have an iPhone or come from one?
I figured I'd add my 2 cents into this discussion, as it seems like everyone is so hardcore for their specific device.
I had the original iphone (jailbroken) and an iphone 3g (didn't bother to jailbreak it for a bunch of reasons) and then decided to move over to a touch pro for a number of reasons.
I would say the biggest are the hardware keyboard, copy/paste, multimedia messaging, simple custom ringtone use, flexibility right out of the box.
And for those of you who say the iphone can do anything that the touch pro (or any windows mobile device) can do, I'd say you're probably right in assuming that, but you also don't mention the loss of stability once you start adding unsupported apps through Installer/Cydia. My iphone would crash multiple times a day once I finally got all the apps I wanted (needed?) on it, and occasionally even holding down the home/power keys wouldn't work to reset the phone. There're occasions where I've had to wait for the battery to go dead in order to fix problems with any app that I'd installed.
I really like the iphone, I think it's a great device, but it definitely caters to a certain type of user (not me). And, to be honest, it took a giant crack in the screen and the thought of replacing the phone at the full unsubsidized price that made me start to consider what else is out there... but I'm glad I did.
EDIT : Ok, I'll add the pros of the iphone -
Integrates very well with mobileme (.mac) and mac os X
the touch screen is unrivaled
Very stable if you don't screw around with it too much
The interface is simple and intuitive
