Most of the time when I see the crazy wingdings the card will have some corruption issues. Try to transfer all your good stuff over, then format the card.
If your card is formatted FAT or FAT32, you can try to do a CHKDSK (assuming you are running WinXP) on the card in DOS. HTH.
