It's not a matter of taking it personally. It's that when attitudes like your's are expressed, it fosters an environment where people feel justified in taking all kinds of harmful actions against certain groups - these actions can take place everywhere from voting booths to back alleys. My marriage was just invalidated due to a coordinated campaign of "sticks and stones" that were untruthful and based on fear and hate. Just don't want to deal with it here, and I so appreciate you stating that you will refrain.
