If you use Google maps or Windows Live Search via the built-in GPS, there's no charge. Besides, with this ROM upgrade to the xv6900, VZ Navigator cannot be run. You can install it and try to run it but you'll get an error message asking you to contact VZ to get you a VZ Nav account. And I called VZ and was told VZ Nav isn't available for my phone yet. But that's fine; I told Live Search to use the GPS Intermediate Driver, and let Google maps find it for itself instead: Menu>Options>GPS Settings> Check Box "Managed by Windows" rather than a GPS port. But in GPS port, use Program Port 4 and don't choose Hardware GPS port. Both programs show dead accurate position so far; have not driven around town yet to check further.

Once the official 6.1 release comes, and VZ Navigator can be officially run, users of the 6800 model have found that if they use an external GPS puck, then VZ Nav can run even without paying for it. As for me, if I'm going to run VZ Nav I'm going to pay for it. Its the least I can do for using such a fabulous program. Besides I am tired of carrying around a puck, and keeping it charged.

By the way, I found a download speed of 641 KB/Sec when I checked on dslreports/mspeed. Had to run it a few times, using the 1 MB file size before I got a result. There are other nice sites but all require Flash Player 7, which we WinMo users have no way to get. You can download Flash 7 for WinMo 5, but I don't want to crash my WinMo 6.1 instaling something that wasn't meant for it. I believe Microsoft is working with Adobe about this. Has been since March, and yet no Flash for us. Darn.
