Ok, say you download an app, mms.zip. You go to that file in your file explorer, and see that it is called mms. You then click on this file and rename it mms.apk. Windows XP, and the file extensions are set to view. So I'm not sure what the problem is but I'll be sure to double check it tonight when I'm home.
