Quick ? exporting registry key

I am using CERegedit and I want to export a registry key from my diamond then convert it to cab so I can reinstall later. When I go to export they key I am asked for the format, which is the correct format that I want?
WinCERegistry file (CeReg)
Registry file (reg)
RGU file (rgu)

Do I want encoding?
ANSI
UNICODE
UNICODE big endian
UTF8

I figured I wanted regular reg file and leave default at ANSI.. but when I do this it warns that this is a desktop format. However when I have seen used registry files they do not have the CeReg extension so I am asking for clarification. What type do I save/export as so I can reinstall registry edits later? THANKS!
