VERY related. This happened to me several times.

The phone heats up, and fails to charge. The phone can get into a continual loop where it keeps trying to charge, but fails because of the heat. Another hypothesis is that you somehow lost EV-DO (it happens all the time, for no reason,) and it heated up, and lost charging ability.

This happened to me 3 times in the 1.5 weeks I owned the Pro.

Even my Touch switches to 1X for no apparent reason. I've had it happen during movies/etc, where I didn't touch my phone at all, but when I get out of the movie, the battery is nearly dead. Very annoying--especially if you had plans afterwards.

While we are on the subject, sort of-- why in the hell do these phones die so quickly in 1X mode? I had phones for years that were 1X-only!! and they lasted all day, or 2 days. Even when I don't use my PDA phone for anything but normal "phone-stuff," it still dies 10 times faster than any normal phone I ever owned---regardless of 1X or EVDO. (My M1 lasted 2-3 days sometimes.)

My 1X-only Sanyo 4700 would last nearly a week, if I was light on the phone calls. My Touch/Touch Pro couldn't even last 3 days if I left it in full EVDO signal, and didn't get a single text or phone call. I'd bet money on that.

The radio software is horribly flawed--in a lot of smartphones it seems.

Even with push email on my M1, with tons of sprintTV watching, and TeleNav as well as operamini browsing, I never once had it die on me during a normal day. I kind of miss those days, actually... but I really need the versatility of these WM smartphones...
