Question - did you perform the Word Correction registry modification that changed eT9 to Comp?
Also, the TP hard keyboard doesn't communicate to the system by the same means as older sliders. This is why you have the delay when you first type on the Touch Pro. My theory is that they changed it from a PS/2 protocol to a USB bridge so they could enable power management to shut off the keyboard, as PS/2 can lock up if the device is constantly put off & on while the device is running - never designed for pnp or pm. On the older models (6600, 6700, 6800) the keyboard was always powered (separate of the backlight) and HTC probably wanted to eliminate that power draw when not in use.
