I don't consider my scenario as "normal functioning." In fact, it's probably prohibited usage in a number of ways
And I don't consider it jumping through hoops to not leave an expensive electronic device (any expensive electronic device) baking in direct sunlight, in an enclosed glove box, or any number of situations that is just common sense to avoid with delicate electronics. Do you leave your laptop wrapped up in a blanket while it's running? Or surf the net in the kitchen with it sitting next to the stove?
Granted, if I couldn't make it through a lengthy call without the unit fully discharging the battery (despite being on a charger) I'd be a little perturbed. But I don't think every user is experiencing that. You hear about the problems because it is the upset people with malfunctioning phones that are the ones posting about it on the internet. Few people post just to say everything is working as intended.

No, actually I have been one of the users experiencing battery charge cutoff. I also never meant to store the phone in a glove box or leave it in direct sunlight. What I mean by normal functioning is that when I make international calls early in the morning for 30 minutes to 1.5 hrs at a time I would like to be able to use my charger and finish the call with 100% battery, not 50%. Otherwise, I would end up starting my day with 50% battery life. Since I'm on the "field" I'm not going to have access to chargers, nor do I want to carry an extra battery in my pocket. I have tested my phone multiple times and it cuts charge 30-45 minutes in while using the phone. This is the only problem I've experienced. Everything else is butter. If they can roll out a radio rom update that makes it more efficient I'm ready to give that a spin before considering return.
