well my man brings up a good point what most people try to do is add the most current updates to the apps that are already in a stock rom ... this may work for some programs but not all .... ie youtube I at one point had problems with it not having any sound in a rom that I made ... went back to stock youtube worked just fine .... tried a different version from a rapheal rom worked ok not all updates are good for a rom especially when OURS are on a CDMA platform which uses a different board all together ... what I have started doing is removing what I would not use in my rom and leaving the OEM package intact this prevents me from running into bugs that I could create and gives me a chance to focus on the build that I am working on and improving the over all end user experience after all its fun to make a rom and even better when you make it and you get good reviews about it but in the long run I wouldn't want to keep tweaking and customizing all the time nor would i want something half working so at least I can speak for myself but tweaking the third party apps that come with the rom HAS cause me problems that I would not want to keep spending time to fix .... Sprint nor Telus didn't do a bad job with these devices as stock ... the it makes it just that much easier for me to focus on the build
