I too have the option for notes to open when stylus removed unchecked. I have also tried to set the screen to shut off during a call in the hope that that might stop notes from opening, and so far I'm not sure if it's working one way or the other.

I just got off a call and had the stupid cheek drawing on the screen again. Happens several times a day.
