Question NOOB Question...even more basic

Ok, i have been reading all of the threads here, and just want to make sure I am not missing something before i start flashing roms. I have a Verizon VX6900, which I love, that i currently have the OEM Rom on. For GPS, I am currently connecting via bluetooth to my BT-GPS receiver (Pharos BT-GPS). Do I understand the following correctly:

1. If I flash my ROM in the correct order, and upgrade radio, etc., I will be able to get GPS without having to pay for the Verizon service, and without using any external receiver?

2. I will be able to continue to use my other Verizon service (such as cellphone) as long as I have configured everything else correctly.

I have previously used a Nokia 770, and was very used to flashing the ROM for various builds and playing around. That was all well and good since if I broke it I still had a cell phone.

Thanks in advance...
