for LCD's its not called burn-in but rather ghosting or image-persistance. The good thing about LCDs is that ghosting is typically revertible as there are abunch of programs online that tries to 'reset' your pixels by flashing all the base colors in rapid order. I had a LCD I had to get replaced by Dell because of a horrible ghosting problem. The thing about my Dell monitor was that I think the lamp was malfunctioning and overheated/ruined the top bar of my LCD and created more or less permanent ghost image of the close/minimize bar of my windows. It would be really obvious on a white background.
