Out of prior experience with speaker/earpiece problems, I would definitely recommend using the LOUDEST audiopara3.csv file that you can find, and installing that before seeking replacement. You want them to hear the crackles/etc. At lower volumes they might not hear it.
I had a blown speakerphone on my Vogue, and I had to jump through hoops to play the right song to make it sound like crap...
