Question Reverting SPL and carrier switching

Ever since I unlocked my Sprint phone with Coke 2.31 and flashed Alltel, the ## codes do not work. From what I've read, this can be fixed by reverting to the stock bootloader on the latest Sprint ROM after installing Coke .40. My question is what are the risks of doing this? My radio is 3.42.30, so if I installed Coke .40, would my radio be messed up?

Also, after I revert to stock bootloader on sprint (if I can do this), here is my plan for activating my HTC Touch on Alltel. Please let me know if this works.

1. Use QPST to rewrite MSL to 000000.
2. Flash Bell Mobility ROM (to update radio to 3.42.50) without the use of Coke 2.31.
3. Flash Alltel ROM and while doing so, getting GPS and REV A to work using this method.
4. Lastly, activating on Alltel.

Thanks in advance!

UPDATE: I guess I don't need to flash the Bell Mobility ROM or use Step 3 to get GPS working. I found this, but I haven't tried it yet.
