Well after trying to fix it myself changing the settings and soft resets I gave up and was ready to return it to Best Buy next day and all of the sudden started working!
The way I got it to work was to turn off the 'Data Communication' option in the connection manager then I tried again and started working, seems like the internet browser turns this option on by itself when starts... not sure this was the fix thou, maybe it was just luck.
