Re: POP Gmail access or IMAP only?

This is a known flaw in Windows Mobile 6.1's auto-email configuration. We figured out the solution back in the day, but if you read Gmail's own support they'll tell you how to get around it, too.

When you're first setting up the account, the first thing it asks for is your e-mail address. If it recognizes the domain name, it automatically configures the rest of the account settings, and in the case of Gmail it uses POP in its configuration. Simply misspell the gmail.com part of your e-mail address to throw it off. Then configure the rest of it correctly and when you're done, go back into your account settings and adjust your e-mail address back (it's used as your "from" address in e-mail you send) and you're in the clear.
