Well, I tried another ROM (jbabey's Mario) and it was good, but not good enough to keep me away from this one. It did get me thinking about trying to create a more customized version for myself, but I'll have to wait until I have some serious time to mess around with that.
One note for everyone. I was having some serious issues with the phone hanging after resets and sometimes just for no apparent reason. After some trial and more error, I think I've determined that the culprit was WisBarLite. Other people on the Lakeridge forum were saying the same- so I deactivated it and O2 (which just isn't customizable enough for me, but is an otherwise nice plugin) and installed iLauncher. Now this thing ROCKS!
I'm really convinced that the only things that I want in a customized ROM are the items that don't change or get updated on a regular basis. It seems silly to put PhoneAlarm, iLauncher, PocketBreeze and PocketInformant into a ROM since it becomes a PITA to install the newer versions as they are released. I just want to create a ROM with the stable utilities that don't change much: 1Calc, PPC6700Hacks, MemMaid, some games, maybe a backup utility like Sprite or Spb and then some of the speed tweaks (that Mario ROM is really incredibly fast- don't know if its just the XCPUScalar, but wow...) that don't hurt stability. I hate those hangs just as the phone rings! I'm probably missing some stuff, but so far this kitchen w/Colonel's mods is the best of all.
