To get it perfect you have to start with the bottom and work your way up, make sure it matches up perfectly on the two sides and slide you fingers on it while you're applying it. I don't have anything under mine and it is best to do it as soon as you take it out of the box since there's nothing on the phone like finger prints or anything like that.
