For the best battery longevity, you are right, a full cycle, totaly flat to trickle charged full would be best, but who has time to do this with a phone?
I do this all the time with my 2000mAhr 7.2v RC car cells, but It's inconvenient to do it with a phone battery.
I want convenience, and if it cuts the batterys life in half so be it!
