Either way, I don't think you can/should restore a full backup taken of an earlier ROM onto a newer one without messing things up. Use SPB Back, Do a Custom Backup, do not backup system data (uncheck it). After you flash the new ROM, do a restore of that back. I've done it many times, everything will go back to the way it was, ie. Contacts, Calendar events, and all your personal settings.
