Here's what I've heard and experienced. SPB Backup works very well. It is very flexible and can backup as little or as much as you prefer. It is NOT free; however, it does allow you to use the software up to 5 times before requiring you to buy it. So, that is definitely an option. Especially since Juicy's hooking us up with the UC option for version 2.6+.

Either way, I don't think you can/should restore a full backup taken of an earlier ROM onto a newer one without messing things up. For example, if Juicy modified/fixed some bugs found in the registry, you would be overwriting those fixes. So, be careful what you choose to overwrite when restoring from backup.
