Hiding! thats where I was hiding :P

All kidding aside, I just recently (as in, the last week or so) got into modifying my phones. up until then, I was using a stock carrier rom for my apache (WM5 from alltel)

My apache screen is finally starting to die, and occasionally stops responding to touches. So in looking for replacements and upgrade models, I stumbled across the touch pro. in looking for info about the touch pro, I stumbled on ppckitchen/ppcgeeks. And voila, my life story in 3 minutes.

Sadly, I don't think I can hold out for the touch pro. I am expecting my 6800 any time now.

As for the database, it was fairly simple. I found a complete list of zip+4, city and state (and a bunch of extra info) from the US Census bureau. I downloaded it, and wrote a perl script to parse the needed information and format it into this database.

I'll keep the script handy though, because the usps and us census bureau says that on average, 5,000 zip codes change every year. so I expect I'll occasionally have to re-parse the data.

I'm just glad my first post could be something the community appreciates, since I appreciate being able to have a fairly inexpensive new hobby
