Given that, my thoughts are:
- Try your carrier's most recent Official ROM.
- Make sure your USB connection is straight to the computer (no hubs, no other USB devices on the line, hubs often split one USB line into multiple, which lowers the amount of power available to a specific device if the hub has more than two devices to a line. Your update could fail if other devices are leeching power from your phone's connection.)
Otherwise my guess would be to say that you've got a faulty device, did you ever sucessfully flash an Official ROM to it?
Also let us know what your device info is, ie Radio Version, ROM version, etc...
