Question TXT message from other carrier illegible

I have a Sprint Apache, that's activated on MTS Service. Whenever I get a txt msg from TELUS customers, the characters in the txt msg is illegible. I don't know if there's an ascii conversion happening or what. I know that receiving TXT messages from MTS, or Rogers works fine.

I believe that this could be a setting in the phone. Any assistance would be helpful. here are a couple screenshot examples.

As you can see by the screenshot, there's still some Sprint settigns left on the phone. I didn't want to hack and slash too much for fear of bricking the phone. I don't have a back up right now, and I am happy I can use the phone as a PDA and cellphone.

As I said though, the TXT messages from my carrier and from Rogers work fine. I don't have contacts on other carriers to use as test subjects, if you want to test with me, please PM me.

One other thing I noticed is that my txt msgs always come in as GMT even though the phone's set to my time zone.

Any assistance is most appreciated.
