The mogul was terrible on battery life too, however a few roms later, the device lasts almost 2 days for me. I think it's a matter of time when people figure out a few tricks and when HTC will release a new ROM that will make the device better on the battery.
Plus isn't the XButton not set to close when hitting the X close button? I remember everytime I flashed my mogul, I had to set the XButton to close on X. Maybe people didn't set this yet and apps are runnign in the background... :shrug:
