Launching activesync cripples wi-fi on laptop

just as i connect the usb cable to xv6700 and activesync starts, the wi-fi conn on the laptop disconnects and further cripples the wi-fi router at my place rendering it unusable even by the desktop. the issue only resolves once the device is removed and the laptop is restarted...
SOS out to anyone who can help me resolve this...
