I'm also not certain that the drain value we see takes in account of the screen's LCD elements (not the backlight, but the pixels).

My Touch would show 67 mAh at idle, BT on, medium backlight.

The Touch is QVGA, total 76800 pixels.

The Diamond is VGA, total 307200 pixels.

Each pixel has three transistors (RGB). If you do the math of how many more trasistor the Diamond has compared to the Touch, the Diamond MUST draw more power just to drive the screen. What the tools report (between the Diamond and Touch) don't jive.
