Re: Diamond Reviews
I mainly read this board off and on to solve issues & to help choose new phones. But now it's time for me to contribute and add a review.
My first cell phone ever was Verizon's XV6600 - and at the time I loved it. Lots of cool gadgets and it satisfied my thirst for gadgetry. Next I moved to the Mogul on Sprint (better signal strength in L.A. & a lighter machine). The physical keyboard was giving me problems and became unusable - so it was time for a trade-in.
Two days ago I got the Diamond and I'm a happy boy! This is what all the other PPCs have been leading up to (at least in my mind!).
It's tiny, but much more functional than the big heavy Mogul. I hated lugging the Mogul around in my pocket.
Like many here, I thought the small onscreen keyboard was going to be a problem for my chunky fingers; but not at all. I'm not missing a physical keyboard at all. Plus, the Transcriber (hand writing recognition) is much better in this than the Mogul; so I can do some serious texting & emailing with it. And it seems the worse I write, the better it understands me. LOL!
I still have the stock ROM and have played with Diamond Tweaks, Advanced Config, and a few other things. It's much faster than the Mogul, and I feel I can use it to really get things done.
The Opera browser is much easier to use than IE - web surfing is now enjoyable and I can actually use it day-to-day instead of pulling the web out for special circumstances.
Tomorrow at Disneyland will be the first time I'll have it out all day, so we'll see how the battery does.
Thanks everyone for your tips & reviews on the Diamond. They were an enormous part of my choosing this phone for my upgrade. I'm a happy boy.
