CDMA and GSM are just two differnt types of celluar networks used around the world.

In North America we have both... CDMA (Sprint, Telus, Alltel, Verizon, etc.) and GSM (AT&T). Vodaphone and Orange (unless I am very confused) are in Europe, which is GSM. Basically, your HTC Diamond has a sim card for the carrier, correct? Because CDMA phones do not use sim cards, and I'll bet that if you are in Europe, you have a sim card... which means it is a GSM phone.

And running an unlocker for CDMA phones on a GSM phone cannot be a good thing.
