I don't understand something... you said you lose images if you remove the volume control well I have Manilla installed and just removed the Oval volume control and didn't lose any images but the Oval volume control UI. So really I don't see a point in having the app installed unless you want the fancy look of a volume control that doesn't work. It does need to be removed from the ROM since it does nothing but stop ppl from turning the volume down which I do when I have my phone on speaker. I'm not worried about turning up the volume I just want to be able to turn it down when ever I need to and so do many others. I have apps like games that need to volume turned down also.
