Ok, youve checked the sync settings enabling your USB, device manager and also checked USB is OK and no errors
are you on Vista as Admin or guest/power user - grant yourself (your logon) admin rights or signon as admin and see if it connects right away
hard to say without more info, like I said, I run Vista X64 and usually a reboot does it for me when/if I have an issue with synching
