I tried to install on top of it but again but it says I need to remove first, I guess that's what I'll have to do. Did this happen to anyone else?

As I was going through the update process, I did come across a situation that sounds similar to what you are describing. GGuruUSA was online in the PPCKitchen forum and as it happens, he was posting an updated version of BuildOS on the update web site.

The one posted now is from today, sometime after 2:00 PM, EDT.
I suggest that you uninstall BuildOS and reinstall the updated version from the manual download web site. After I did this, everything worked as expected.
