If you close the mail app by tapping X, and X has one of those things that is designed to kill the process instead of minimize it (the touch has one of these) it can actually kill the tmail app, and then the background downloader process freaks out and throws this message almost all the time.

Easy to reproduce. On an imap or pop3 account, start a Send/Receive and then exit by tapping the X after it has logged in... it should pop up that message most every time.

Safe to ignore, it seems.
