Let me introduce you to my carrier - Sprint - they don't really like new things. Technology scares them. They don't like bleeding edge technology, they don't like cutting edge technology, and they don't like offering firmware updates to their old technology even when it is being released by them as "new". They don't really like testing equipment before they sell it but they like to hold onto it a very long time before they release it so they can say they were testing it. I was told by a Sprint engineer they had the HTC Diamond in January (they may have had it sooner but he was aware his group had it for testing in January). It took them 9 months to put a red back on it, add some junkware and release it. Granted, it does have a thicker battery to handle the demands of CDMA but I'm pretty sure I could have had any electrical engineer calculate battery life without ever having physically touched the diamond.
