The things you've been reading about people getting Mogul replacements have only been from situations where they've had their 6700 for some time and by the time they had to go in to get it fixed, there were no more 6700's for replacement, so they got a Mogul instead.
That being said, if you got your Mogul in August last year (1 month after it had been released), you're probably eligible for a $75 upgrade (at least by the time the Touch Pro is released). Other than that, if you're not looking to spend money on a new phone...just save up until you can afford it or wait for the next upgrade.
