Re: Considering the 800w...

PROS: quick device, wifi, gps, good ole treo keyboard, higher res screen than older treos

CONS: battery life, no standalone gps (only can use it when u have service), square screen had incompatibilities with some software still, muddy and low earpiece volume.

For me personally the earpiece was the deal breaker, everyone sounds muffled and the volume at max is maybe 1/2 that of my Touch (or a mogul would be) with the audiopara hack. simply cant use it when its noisy or in the car. The performance was about equal to the touch since they both have similar hardware specs 128mb ram/256mb rom similar speed processors. Standalone gps is a bug in the phone and may or may not be fixed, i think its a deterrent to only have gps when you have service. Thats disconcerting if you really get lost and other phones all have standalone working.

Overall, in the end, it simply wasnt worth the money over the Touch which is very similar but the earpiece is loud and clear and gps works correctly anywhere or with the phone off. Couldnt justify the purchase so it went back, especially with the new HTC's coming out within 30 days or so which will trump the Treo by FAR and cheaper too ($549 and $579 vs $600 for the treo.)

Personally im waiting for the touch pro in about a month itll kill anything else out there- 2.8" VGA screen (HUGE difference in clarity than anything sprint has out), tv out, slide out qwerty like the mogul, touchflo3d, 512mb storage plus card slot, huge 288mb of ram, gps, wifi, the works.
