That is a well-known problem when setting the device to store the PIE cache and/or mail attachments to the storage card. There is really no known fix other than to always store that stuff on the device.

What happens is that your SD card periodically "disappears" and the OS can't find it. To avoid a bad situation where it needs to write to the cache/mail attachements but has no SD card to do it on, it creates that path in your main storage. But then once your PPC finds the SD card again and tries to mount it, it sees the identically named folder and thus to avoid conflicts must rename the SD card to a unique name--hence Storage Card2.

Many PPCs are having similar problems--it isn't just the 6700.
